About
A theremin is a musical instrument that is played with no physical contact. The user will move their hand either closer to or further away from the instrument, causing a change in the sound produced. This is in some ways a translation of the user's movements.
Using a distance sensor and a microcontroller board, I built a theremin that attaches to a computer and creates both sound and visuals depending on the distance of the user's hand from the sensor. The audio and visuals were programmed using a visual programming language called PureData.
